The portfolio gallery below highlights Orange County Coastkeeper Magazine: a high-quality, 72-page promotional publication highlighting the accomplishments, philosophy and future direction for a non-profit environmental organization. Orange County Coastkeeper is a respected environmental organization that protects water quality throughout the 26,000 square miles of the Santa Ana River Watershed—the largest watershed in Southern California. As Executive Editor & Creative Director, I performed a majority of the writing, all interviewing, all editorial coordination, and much of the photography for the publication. I designed it, laid it out in InDesign, & did all of the prepress work. This magazine provides an example of the breadth of my abilities. To view some of the layouts click, on the gallery below.
For more than a decade I have been providing outdoor photography services for landscape architects, non-profit environmental organizations, and natural resources consulting firms. The gallery shows scenes from various landscape architecture photo assignments. Click on the gallery below to see larger versions of photos.
The Inn on Knowles Hill in the old mining town of Sonora, California is a great place to relax and explore, and Yosemite is not too far from there. The food and accommodations are amazing, and you will never find better hosts than my good friends Fred and Rhonda Buess. They first opened in 2008. When they were done renovating and ready to promote it ahead of the grand re-opening in 2012, they asked me to photograph the inn for them. Click on the gallery below for details.
As a lifetime photojournalist I have a news bug in me, and as the former editor of Rescue Magazine I am bit of a disaster junkie. In 1989 I reported live from the emergency response scenes of the Loma Prieta Earthquake in the San Francisco Bay area, and five years later I did the same during the Northridge Earthquake response in Los Angeles. I live in wildfire country, but I don’t root for wildfires—I root for the firefighters. You will often see me on scene when a big fire strikes the Inland Empire or in our local Southern California mountains. Click on the gallery to see more.
